Guidelines for Empowered Accounts

Empowered accounts are those with special permissions such as administrator, root, or supervisor accounts.

AITS requires that passwords for empowered accounts for critical systems be modified annually. This should be enforced automatically where possible. For a guide to changing passwords on some common systems, please see the Change Passwords page.
